Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)

Ayushman Bharat - PM-JAY is a flagship health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India to provide free healthcare coverage to economically vulnerable families. It offers health insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization across empanelled public and private hospitals in India.

The scheme is aimed at reducing the financial burden of medical expenses on poor and vulnerable populations. It covers over 10 crore families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) as per SECC 2011 data and is entirely cashless and paperless at the point of service.
